The Family Resource Program Assistant will work closely with our playroom staff to support the daily operations of the drop-in program. Key responsibilities include: • Planning and facilitating age-appropriate activities for children aged 0–6 in areas such as arts and crafts, music, literacy, and gross motor play • Assisting with set-up and clean-up of the playroom environment • Welcoming and building relationships with families in a warm, inclusive manner • Supporting special summer programming and themed events • Helping to document activities and complete program reports • Participating in team meetings and professional development opportunities This position is ideal for students pursuing a career in early childhood education, social work, or a related field. You will gain hands-on experience in a supportive, multicultural community setting under the guidance of experienced family support workers. Qualifications: • Currently enrolled in or returning to a relevant post-secondary program (ECE, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Public Health, Family Studies, or similar) • Between 15–30 years of age (Canada Summer Jobs requirement) • Genuine enthusiasm for working with young children and diverse families • Strong communication skills; second language an asset • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Valid First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) • Successful Criminal Record Check required prior to start

The Children's Program – Family Support Worker Assistant will provide on-call coverage for our drop-in and structured playroom programs, supporting children from birth to age 6 and their caregivers. Key Responsibilities: • Facilitate and support a safe, nurturing play environment aligned with early childhood development best practices • Welcome and engage with families, particularly those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds • Assist in delivering structured program components including circle time, literacy activities, and gross motor play • Provide informal family support and information/referrals to community resources as needed • Maintain a clean, organized, and child-safe environment • Communicate effectively with the Program Coordinator regarding scheduling and program needs • Complete required documentation and maintain confidentiality This is an on-call position with availability required Monday through Saturday during morning drop-in hours. Ideal for an experienced ECE professional looking for flexible work in a warm and supportive community environment. Qualifications: • ECE Certification (Basic or IT preferred) — candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered • Minimum 5 years' direct experience working with children birth to age 6 and their families • Valid First Aid Certificate • Successful Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) • Experience in multicultural and multilingual settings • Demonstrated ability to work independently with sound professional judgement • Positive, non-judgmental attitude and commitment to equity and inclusion
